70% of dental dental procedures use needles.
70% of all people feel uneasy or are concerned about the idea of oral needles.
50% of patients feel oral pain during their dental treatment.
30% miss or delay dental appointments due to anxiety.
84% of dentists are constantly stressed and burnt out at their workplace.
Unfortunately, fear of pain leads to fewer visits to the dental office and more last-minute cancellations, which only complicate oral health issues and make it more difficult and expensive to treat. A vicious cycle is consequently formed.
During a casual chat in2015, Omar Zuaiter (a dentist) and Alaa Habeb (anengineer) marvelled at the conundrum that almost everything in the dental clinic seems to exude anxiety by design, from terrifying needles to noisy drills to suffocating sprays and pain.
In response, Omar and Alaa launched Dentroid in 2017 to pioneer a distinctive human-centric rather than tooth-centric approach.
Guided by this founding principle, Dentroid has been harnessing the synergetic power of photonics and robotics and developing new technologies that will replace needles, drills and sprays to unleash the full potential of dentistry for patients and dentists alike.
